Great room tree

We decorated unusually early this year. The tree was up November 30, and decorated along with the rest of the house within the next week. This is easily a record for our last four decades of holiday celebrations!

My family tradition growing up was late: we went to bed on Christmas Eve with nothing done and woke up Christmas morning with the whole dazzling array (I think my parents hired it out). In some of the previous places we’ve lived decorations would go up right after Thanksgiving and come down before the end of December. We have been the opposite – I remember trees still up in February!

A couple of new things will happen at River Dell in 2019. First, the Page County Economic Development & Tourism Office has launched a Pay for YOUR Stay Winter Marketing campaign. Anyone who books a two-night stay at River Dell January through March AND an equivalent stay during the subsequent months (April – November) will get the winter reservation for FREE!

Second, we are offering River Dell as an all-inclusive wedding venue for parties of 10 or less. Some call these “elopement packages,” we are calling them “nano-weddings” (extra small!). We did our first last October and it went exceptionally well.

Details for the first will be on the website reservation page shortly; we’ll also be adding a new page for weddings. Think about us for either (or both). And – have a great holiday season!
