The General Lee

The first weekend in May will be highlighted by two events. The first is the grand opening of Cooters, a new establishment in Luray featuring all things Dukes of Hazzard. They even have the signature vehicles from the show, including the iconic General Lee.

And, right here at River Dell on Sunday evening May 7th we will be sponsoring our very first House Concert, featuring Helene Cronin! Here is her bio:

Helene Cronin is an “honest, acoustic singer/songwriter” who splits her time between Dallas, TX and Nashville, TN. She hosts shows at the famous Bluebird Cafe and performs for coffeehouses, concerts and songwriter events in Texas and Tennessee. Audiences are drawn in by her intimate, personal performances, sly humor and subtle storytelling. Her most well-known work is the song Lucky Me which is based on a conversation with a soldier at the airport. Helene has shared a stage with Gary Sinise, Dennis Haysbert, Tony Orlando and Darryl Worley. Perhaps the most meaningful moment she experienced was when a room full of Medal of Honor recipients gave her a standing ovation for Lucky Me.

Helene has released two CDs of new material: “Belong to the River” and “Restless Heart”. Both are available on iTunes, CD Baby and the usual digital streaming services. Connecting with people through the emotion of music, expressing some true thought or idea, finding grace in the chaos of life are all things that motivate Helene to continue writing and pursuing the musical life that began when she first borrowed her big brother’s guitar and taught herself a few chords.

Find more information about Helene including special events, show dates and new music at her website www.helenecronin.com. If you are interested in attending the concert, send an email to riverdellbb@gmail.com.

And of course the most important component in her career is that she played in a band in Dallas for several months in ‘83 – 84 with Putter Cox . . . .
